How to sit on a bar stool
The humble bar stool is a vastly underrated piece of human inventiveness. With the possible exception of my bed, I've probably spent more time on bar stools than on any other sort of furniture - so I might be considered an expert! Unfortunately, the bar stool is often abused by casual drinkers who really don't know how to sit on it. You can recognize these individuals immediately: instead of relaxing and letting the stool take the full weight of their body, they sit upright like they sorely miss a backrest and arm rests, putting relatively much of their weight on their feet. Now that's wrong! Feet are for walking - not for half standing on while you're having a beer! Sure, as part of ones relaxation one can extend a foot to the floor, but never, never at all, should that foot take any serious weight! The right position on a bar stool is with a distinctly bent or hunched back, both elbows resting lightly but comfortably on the bar itself or on its arm rail, feet either dangling down in a relaxed way, or loosely positioned on the bars foot rail. This places the body's center of gravity exactly where it belongs: right over the stools seat, thus creating a position of great stability that has occasionally been known to support the person even after he fell asleep! After over 40 years of experience, I am now certain that only the above described position enables the serious boozer to get himself outside as many drinks as humanly possible, without toppling over in a regrettably early stage of the session.

Contributor's Note
This little article is the reflection of a life long experience, all over the world. Passing this on to you makes me very happy: it would be a shame if such wealth of experience would die with me!
