Crapper crap
Sir Thomas Crapper truly made it: already during his lifetime did his name become a household word for the seat whereupon we defaecate!
Of course Thomas' moniker is not the only nickname for the place where even emperors go on foot. To mention only a few: toilet, loo, porcelain goddess, wc, shouse, thunderbox, outhouse, and many more that I hesitate to use in decent company like yours! Some euphemisms are local, which often results in amusing culture clashes like American visitors asking their European host for the "bathroom", only to find themselves in a chamber with a tub, a shower and a washing basin... but no sign of any seat-of-relief! It can even be worse: Australian expatriates in the States who urgently inquire after the "dyke"!
Yes, there's something inherently funny about the bathroom or crapper! But let's not forget that modern toilets and equipment have contributed considerably to the disappearance of epidemics like cholera and typhus, in large parts of the world! So let's enthousiastically praise the "Porcelain Goddess".
